Why are you single?

If you’re single, I’m sure you’ve asked yourself more than once: “Why me?” As for the answer, chances are your friends and family may have been more than, ahem, generous in offering their opinions, and I’ll bet that little voice in your head has had a say, too. But before you find fault in what you’re doing on the dating scene, take a look at what you’re thinking. You may simply be suffering from a slight spell of dating pessimism.

I look at dating this way: sometimes it’s not about what actually happens on dates; rather, it’s your explanation of what happened that makes all the difference in your attitude about love, your dating style, and the energy you’re radiating in the presence of your matches. It’s a theory that Martin Seligman, Ph.D., the father of positive psychology and author of Authentic Happiness calls your “explanatory style.” He says that pessimists explain their problems as pervasive (“No one likes me”), permanent (“I’ll be alone forever”) and personal (“I’m not gorgeous enough”). But you’re far more likely to land in a great relationship if you’re an optimist, which means it’s time to start looking at your negative dating experiences as “atypical,” “temporary” and “not about me.”

Here, for example, are some of the most common (and frustrating) reasons that people believe they aren’t going to find someone to date. If you’ve ever said any of the statements below, I’ll help you pep-talk yourself through the pessimism and remind you of qualities to focus on instead in order to prepare yourself for a successful relationship.

“Nobody is looking for someone like me.” This is a “pervasive” way to look at your situation, declaring that your single status is both far-reaching and without exceptions. But look at what you’re really saying: nobody is looking for someone like you. That is just plain wrong! Take the “specific” point of view instead: for whatever reason, the last few failed dates you had were, indeed, looking for someone different — but so were you! You want someone who loves and appreciates your unique qualities and one-of-a-kind laugh, right? Then keep your eyes peeled for that person. You two just haven’t met yet.

“I’m cursed. I’ll never meet anyone.” This your way of thinking of your current single status as “permanent” — and it’s obviously not true. You meet lots of new people all the time. You just haven’t met anyone lately that inspired romantic feelings in you, which is more common than you think. As a dating optimist, look at your permanent “table for one” reservation as a “temporary” seat at the bar instead. From now on, tell yourself the truth: “I haven’t met anyone I like yet, but I will.”

“I’m not attractive/smart/rich/young/hot enough.” Here’s what’s wrong with this reasoning: You’re taking the opinions of strangers too personally. I don’t blame you — it certainly feels personal because it’s not your résumé or pencil drawing that someone is rejecting; that someone is rejecting you. But if someone doesn’t want to date you, it’s not about you personally, it’s about the connection (or lack thereof). I’ll say that again because it’s important: It’s not about you, it’s about the fact that you don’t share a romantic connection with this particular person. You might be face to face with someone who has all the qualities you want in a partner on paper — smart, funny, attractive, driven, comes from a good family — but no matter how many matches you strike, you can’t seem to fire up that crucial spark that sets your hearts aflame. That’s all the proof you need to know it’s not about you; the right partner will be just as into you, too. Forget about what people might think of you and focus on the connection you feel instead.

“Men/Women just don’t like people as _________ as me.” Yes, they do! Let me ask you this: Do you have a friend? Does one human being out there enjoy spending time with you? Then people do like you — you just haven’t made that specific romantic connection with anyone… yet.

“I’m better at being single. I guess I’m just supposed to stay single forever.” Just because one failed relationship brought you down doesn’t mean you’re meant to be alone for life. You’re allowed to be “good” at being single — i.e. you enjoy time alone, you fly through your to-do lists and you can handle being dateless at a wedding. Your single status is only “permanent” if you choose to keep it that way! Whatever is making you feel bad about yourself is temporary — it’s one person (or maybe it’s a string of them) who can’t make the connection with your fabulous self, not the whole human race. You’re currently single because you haven’t found a specific person you want to settle down with who loves you completely. That’s the real reason you’re single. But if you want a relationship (because you can be good at that, too!), decide right now that you’re meant to be in one and watch the dating world flock to you and your aura of optimism.

The Top 6 Calorie-Burning Workouts

Sources from Yahoo.

While there is no secret formula for losing weight (It all comes down to simple math: You must burn more calories than you consume), there are smarter, faster ways to achieve your goals. The following six workouts are proven to be the most heart-pumping, sweat-producing, and consequently most efficient calorie-burning and weight-loss-inducing exercises out there. Do one, or a combination of many, regularly, and watch the weight fall off.

1. Kickboxing: 800 calories per hour

Kickboxing offers a great full-body workout because it requires you to use every major muscle group and includes interval training. Your heart rate will soar and stabilize several times throughout the class, which is optimal for weight loss. 24 Hour Fitness clubs report that attendees of their Turbo Kick classes can burn up to 800 calories in one hour-long class.

How to Want to Workout More

2. Biking: 700 calories per hour

You can burn up to 700 calories at your average cycling class or take to the road on your own to enjoy fresh air to boot! Just make sure you keep a pace of about 14 to 16 miles per hour to reach the 700-calorie goal.

Gadgets That Help You Lose Weight

3. Zumba: 500 or more calories per hour

Who knew an hour of dancing could produce such results?! Because this Latin-inspired dance workout uses the principles of interval training and resistance exercise, the workout will boost your metabolism considerably, according to FitnessZumba.com. However, like any fitness regimen, the number of calories burned varies from person to person depending on weight, sex, current fitness level, and how a hard a person works out. Still the massive weight loss and toning benefits of hip-swishing and shimmying make this dance workout one of the most popular today.

4. Jumping Rope: 780 calories per hour
Only got ten minutes? You can still squeeze in cardio with this highly effective activity, which can have you burning 130 calories every ten minutes (or 780 calories per hour). According to MedicineNet.com, you’d have to run an eight-minute mile to burn as many calories as jumping rope for the same amount of time, making it a good choice for someone who is starting a fitness regime and may not have the endurance to maintain a fast running speed for an extended period of time. If you have limited space and time, jumping rope is the most efficient way to see results. In addition, the high-impact nature of this workout means you’ll add bone mass, increasing your bone health, according to 24 Hour Fitness Club's Website and BoneHealth.com, while you lose fat.

Fitness Plans That Really Work

5. Aerobic Step Classes: 600 calories per hour

Aerobic step classes are high-intensity and high-impact, meaning you’ll burn fat and calories. The number of calories burned depends on how high the step is, but using just a six-inch platform can allow you to burn up to 600 calories in one hour-long class.

6. Running: 650 calories per hour
According to WebMD's calorie calculator, a 145-pound person who maintains a 10-minute mile for one hour can burn up to 650 calories. However, running consistently for an hour can be challenging if it isn't a part of your current exercise regimen. You can work up to this goal and increase your cardiovascular fitness by adding walking intervals throughout your workout. For instance, run for three minutes and then walk briskly for one minute. This practice will increase your endurance, lower your heart-rate recovery time, and burn fat.

How to Handle Stress at Work

Stress and Work

Stress and work seem to, at times, go hand in hand. In a world where technological advances only seem to serve to keep workers glued to their desks, is it any wonder that many report increased levels of stress? While it may be true that stress levels have increased in recent years, it's equally important to identify the source of that stress.

Learn How to Handle Stress at Work

Before deciding how to handle stress at work, you'll need to pinpoint what exactly is causing the stress.

Long Hours

Sometimes it's not the responsibilities of a position that causes stress, but rather, the sheer number of hours you spend tackling those responsibilities. If you find that you are the first one in the office in the morning, and the last to leave at night, ask yourself, why? What are you trying to gain from spending so many hours at work? Recognition? A promotion? None of these are bad things, in fact, striving for recognition and a promotion is quite commendable.

However, if the grueling schedule you've set for yourself is starting to become something of a problem, asking yourself why you are doing it can actually help you think about the problem in a more creative way.

For example, why not keep a list of all the notable achievements you've accomplished within the last six months to a year? This way, when it's time for your performance review, you'll be able to discuss those achievements, and hopefully, snag that promotion!

Is Bullying a Problem?

Bullying in the work place is gaining more attention as individuals come forward with their stories. Things like being made fun of or being excluded from office functions can feel just as painful now as it did when you were young. If co-workers cross the line, don't hesitate to speak with the human resources department.

Feel Unchallenged?

Surprisingly enough, boredom can also cause stress. Doing a job by rote or only using half of your brain to complete assignments can leave you feeling frustrated and angry. If this is the case, talk to your supervisor. Explain to him or her that you would love the opportunity to use some of your other skills, for example, creating Power Point presentations.

Keep in mind, however, that you'll need to do plenty of research on how your skills/special projects will save the company money. If your supervisor sees that letting your talents shine creates a win/win situation for both you and the company, he or she will be more apt to let you try.

Are There Conflicting Personalities?

Working in an office can be difficult because one needs to contend with so many different personalities. If you are having a conflict with a co-worker, try to talk it out with him/her. State your points calmly and rationally, and really try to listen to his/hers. If things have really come to a head, you may even want to consider switching departments (or transferring).Even worse than having a conflict with a co-worker is having one with a supervisor. If this is the case, try to smooth things over, the odds are very good that you'll be gone before he or she is.

If it's much more serious than a simple clash of wills, for example, your supervisor is acting in an unethical or illegal way, keep copious notes. Taking legal action is a very serious step and one that requires much thought, but if it does eventually come to that, you'll be very happy that you have documentation.

Dealing with Stress

No matter what the cause, here are some practical steps you can immediately take to help alleviate workplace stress:

  • Get Physical

This is probably one of the very best things you can do to combat stress, and the good news is that it doesn't have to be anything too strenuous. A simple twenty minute walk is all it takes to improve your mood.

  • Get a Hobby

Doing something you enjoy, other than your work, can also help to improve your serotonin levels. Lose yourself in needlepoint, the garden, a great book or anything that makes you happy.

  • Mediate

Mediating, or sitting quietly for ten to fifteen minutes is a wonderful way to reconnect with yourself and what's truly important.

  • Pray

If applicable, why not pray? Similar to mediation, prayer also has a very calming, and centering after effect.

  • Talk It Out

Get together with friends and talk out your problems, but don't go into a gab-fest. Instead, set a timer, for example a half hour, to talk things out, and after the time limit is up, go do something active. This is a great way to get things off your chest while having fun.

Putting It All Together

Knowing how to handle stress at work is a necessary skill that most of us need to learn. When we carry stress from work, other areas of our life begin to suffer. Why give work all that power? Practice letting go of everyday work stress while figuring out a way to live your true passion because that is what will leave you feeling truly happy.

How to Stay Happy and Be Positive Some Easy Tips

Self-enhancement is the key to stay happy and positive. Here are some easy tips

  • Take time to acknowledge personal accomplishments and celebrate success in a manner that can strengthen relationships. Keeping good social and personal relations are very effective means avoiding stress.
  • Take good care of yourself. When you feel good, you also feel good and vice versa. Love yourself each day. Tell yourself ‘I love you’ and give yourself a hug everyday.
  • Wear a smile everyday, compliment at least one person in the day, greet people, and take each day as the first day of the rest of your life. Do something new every day or as often as you can.
  • Practice self-help methods, like writing journals, being passionate about work, taking on some hobbies, improving social life by meeting up with friends and relatives.
  • Figure out your fun quotient of the day.
  • Avoid procrastinations and perfectionism.
  • Eat healthy and exercise regularly. For this, all one needs to do is wear one’s exercise shoes and step on one’s treadmill for a few minutes or even better, jog on beautiful beach side.
  • Avoid addictions or any such risk-driven activity.
  • f there is a negative pattern in your life, opt for group or family counseling.

Here is some food for thought:

  • Be assertive instead of being aggressive.
  • Control anxiety by identifying one’s irrational thoughts and beliefs and rectifying them.
  • Instead of cribbing, accept loss gracefully and move on with life.
  • Replace low self-esteem with good-self image by always choosing to think positive, strengthening your talents and learning from your mistakes.
  • Overcome ‘boredom’ with introduction of changes and passion in life.
  • When feeling sad or low, you can have an attitude towards good thingsof life, and observing how you are better compared to some others who are not.

Best Shoes For Walkers

When it's the time to enjoy your morning walk, you should attire proper shoes that can give support to your feet and make walking a delightful experience. There is no particular style or brand of shoes that can be labeled as the best shoes for walkers. You have to go about hunting for the right athletic walking shoes in the market. The market is virtually flooded with distinctive kinds of walking shoes, putting an average man in the state of dilemma.

When you go for your fitness walking, shoes become the most important gear, whose quality should not be compromised, because you might have to repent in future. Always focus on buying comfortable shoes for walking, rather than getting lured by the hip-hop style shoes, because that might not be the apt shoe for you. Ensuring proper fit becomes of prime importance, as improper fit can become a serious cause of concern, giving rise to pain and other unwanted problems.

What is appropriate for your friend, it's not necessary that the same shoe would be suitable for you too, because everybody's feet are different. Everyday, some new style or design of shoes is hitting the market, but it is you, who has to take a conscious decision and decide as to what suits your requirement, because if you buy some local brand cheap quality shoe, the loss would be only yours and no one else's.

People are unsure whether boots serve as the apt choice for walkers or not. Though, it has been observed that long walkers tend to attire boots, but boots generally are inflexible and heavy. They lack the features of motion control, needed by many people and thus don't really turn out to be the right choice for walkers.

Motion control shoes serve as an impeccable choice for people having flat feet and for those suffering from the problem of overpronation. Stability shoes are a good choice for medium weight people, who do not have the problem of motion control. For flexibility purpose, cushioned shoes are just apt. These highly supportive shoes are the best for people with high arches. So, understand your feet type and problems associated with it and choose the right shoe

High Protein Diet and Foods

The high protein diet has become one of the most popular diets around these days. The idea behind it is simple, no matter what your goals are, everyone can benefit from eating a high protein diet and eating high protein foods. Whether your goal is to increase muscle, gain weight and get big, lose weight and lose fat, get and/or stay lean, this type of diet is right for you. There are many reasons why it is one of the only types of diets around that can be effective for so many different people with so many different goals and bodies. However, depending on exactly what your goal is (weight loss, weight gain, gaining muscle, etc.) little changes will have to be made to it. First, lets look at why this type of diet is so effective.

For building muscle.

Your body needs protein, and lots of it. It is the building block of muscle, which is why eating a high protein diet filled with high protein foods is EXTREMELY important for anyone looking to increase muscle, gain weight/get big, or anyone just looking to build or at least maintain muscle. Without eating enough protein each day, muscle mass will not increase. During your weightlifting and strength training workout, your muscles are getting broken down. In order for your muscles to rebuild, repair and recover, your body needs protein.

For losing fat.

People say they want to "lose weight," but what they really want to do is lose fat... NOT muscle. Well, eating a high protein diet is the most important factor in making sure your muscle is maintained while fat is lost. People trying to lose weight and lose fat should also know that most high protein foods are extremely low in calories, carbs and the unhealthy fats you DON'T want to eat. Plus, it's also the most filling nutrient there is. Therefore, by eating a high protein diet loaded with high protein foods, you end up eating a lot of healthy, filling, low calorie foods.

Some high protein foods are:

  • Chicken
  • Turkey
  • Lean Meats & Beef
  • Fish (all fish is high in protein: tuna fish, salmon, shrimp, etc.)
  • Eggs & Egg Whites
  • Beans
  • Nuts
  • Milk
  • Supplements (powders, shakes, bars, etc.)

There may be other high protein foods, but these are the basics.

How much should I eat per day?

The next question you probably have is how much protein should there be in a high protein diet. 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight is probably the most common recommendation for healthy adults. So, if you weigh 175lbs, eat about 175 grams of protein everyday, whether you worked out that day or not. I personally eat a little over 1 gram of protein per pound, and most people with the primary goal of building muscle and gaining weight can possibly benefit from a slightly higher intake like this. People only looking to lose weight (or just maintain their weight) can shoot for 0.8 - 1 gram per pound.

Now some people might be thinking: "Eating a high protein diet at 1 gram per pound of body weight sounds impossible, how the hell am I supposed to eat that much protein every day?" Well, a lot of people have this problem. Not many people have time to make high protein foods like chicken breasts all day long or carry tuna fish around with them all day. This is where protein supplements come in handy.

What about supplements? Which are the best?

Protein shakes (which are just the powder mixed with any liquid you want) and bars are the perfect solution. Drinking your average shake with 2 scoops of protein powder will give you about 36 grams of protein, and it only takes a minute to make and drink. Most bars contain about 30 grams as well and are the size of your average candy bar (which makes them easy to carry around with you). Supplements are quick, convenient, useful and in most cases very low in calories.

As for the best brand of supplements, I personally use and fully recommend Designer Whey Protein Powder. Very high quality, tastes great, and mixes in seconds.

I always order it online from here for literally $15.00 CHEAPER than GNC sells it for.

For bars, I'm a big fan of Pure Protein Bars. You can also get them for $15.00 cheaper than GNC right here.

The most important times of the day to eat protein.

The last very important thing you need to know about high protein foods is that there are certain times during the day when it is extra beneficial to eat them.

These times are with breakfast (since you haven't eaten for hours), at night before bed (so you have some protein in you over night when your body is repairing/recovering), and most important of all: directly after your workout. You can learn exactly why, exactly how much, and the best possible source in my article about Post Workout Meal Nutrition.

In the end, the key to eating a high protein diet is reaching the right total amount of protein at the end of the day. It may be both helpful and beneficial to eat some with every meal because it will keep you fuller longer, and ensure that your body always has what it needs throughout the day.

Benefits of walking to lose weight

:: Since i've started jog and poco2 every evening, so i would like to share benefit of walking::

Walking is not only a great exercise for maintaining health its also one of the best exercises to help control weight. Many people trying to lose weight often perform an exercise they believe burns more calories and wonder why after a few weeks theyhardly see any results. Permanent fat loss will take time, even though calories do count its not just about burning as many calories as possible, especially during the beginning stages of weight loss.

To lose fat weight its vital to start off with an exercise that will help burn fat directly, one which also helps to slowly develop fitness levels so thathigher calorie burning exercises may be performed later on in the program in order to speed up weight loss.

Walking is probably the best exercise to start losing permanent weight.

Even though a walk won’t burn lots of calories just look at the positive benefits of walking:

  • Higher percentage of body fat burned

  • Increase health & fitness

  • Boost energy levels

  • Decrease in health risks

Also remember walking is:

  • Easy to participate

  • Fun with friends

  • No equipment needed

Losing weight on a walking program may be a sensible start!

Many overweight or sedentary people tend to have a decreased fitness level. This is often because a lack of exercising over time allowed the muscles and energy system to lose efficiency. For this reason many exercises are simply too intense when starting a weight loss exercise program. Running and jogging are great exercises for burning calories however, for unfit person they are often too energy demanding. Exercises that are too intense cause the body to burn more carbohydrates.

Burning fat requires the body to exercise at lower levels of exertion and many other exercises don’t allow this fact. Look at Jogging, to continue burning those calories and keep up the pace with a training partner many beginners may try to push past present limits in order to feel that they have done a proper workout. However, if the heart rate is too high it’s impossible to burn a large percentage of fat. Learn more about fat burning here!

Walking also enables us to workout at a steady and consistent pace, another requirement that allows us to burn fat effectively. Many other activities like tennis, soccer, hockey or baseball often require great bursts of energy for a short while in-between regular periods with an easy pace. This type of exercising allows the body to “switch gear” back to utilizing carbohydrates as fuel. To burn fat we need the body to be permanently in fat-burning mode during the whole exercise, walking is a constant and gradual activity so it achieves fat-burning mode very effectively even if the person lacks some fitness.

The great thing about walking to lose weight is that it can be made fun. The pet dogcan be taken to the local park so he can enjoy the walk too. Friends can join in the walk where you can chat and catch up on the latest chat. Walking can also be achieved when shopping, a good stroll around shops for a few hours can still help burn off some fat stores. In this case though it would be a good idea to keep continuous movements in order to support fat burning mode, window-shopping may be good for this!

Personally I believe walking is the best way to start off any new weight loss program as long as your doctor approves it!
